Much more than tax returns!
If you are an individual, our different entities are able to offer you a wide range of services whether you are salaried or self-employed.
We prepare about 2,000 personal tax returns every year… from the most simplest to the most complex. For example, our complex ones involve:
- foreign source income;
- Canadian source income earned abroad;
- employment abroad and/or matters requiring the analysis and application of a tax treaty with a foreign country;
- credits for taxes paid abroad; and
- separation, divorce or blended family cases, which are never simple when tax optimization is the intended goal.
Of course, our main focus is to help you reduce the amount of income tax you need to pay. We can also review your prior-year tax returns in order to recover overpaid taxes, claim any missing tax credits or deductions, or correct any other items.
We also prepare trust income tax and information returns (T3 for federal and TP-646 for provincial) and statements of partnership income (T5013 for federal and TP-600 for provincial). Our business law experts are also equipped to prepare trust deeds and partnership agreements.
But, for individuals, we can do much more than that!
If your tax situation does not fully comply with current regulations, our tax experts can also assist and represent you within the framework of the federal Voluntary Disclosures Program (VDP) and the provincial program, in order to clean up your file and avoid costly tax penalties.
Our tax experts can also help you determine if you meet all of the requirements to benefit from a self-employed status or determine your tax residency for the purposes of federal or provincial income tax. If need be, we can also represent you in front of the Canada Revenue Agency and the Agence du revenu du Québec if your residency status is contested.
We prepare sales taxes registration applications, sales taxes filings (GST/HST-PST) for self-employed individuals (monthly, quarterly or annually), as well as payroll and source deductions, if need be.
If you disagree with a notice of assessment or are being audited for income tax or consumption tax, our tax experts can represent you and defend your interests before the tax authorities.
If you have outstanding tax debts or are presently (or about to be) in a collection process, we can represent you to negotiate a payment agreement with the tax authorities. And when your business is so successful that you start thinking about optimizing your corporate structure, we are ready and well-equipped to advise you on which structure best fits with your needs.
